Catalog description
This intermediate leveled ASL course focuses on the further development of conversational and narrative skills in American Sign Language through rigorous receptive and expressive language activities. ASL skills development with application to complex grammatical structures continues through discussion of such topics revolving around discussing ourselves, the Deaf community, and its culture. Activities include narratives, presentations, and lab exercises that provide extensive hands-on practice using different methods of delivery. For community engagement, students are expected to navigate into the diverse Deaf community in order to learn about Deaf co-culture in and beyond Chicago.
