Catalog description
An introduction to the science of the oceans and marine life. Students explore the physical, chemical, geological, and biological features of the marine environment, including ocean circulation, seafloor structure, and the diversity of marine organisms from plankton to whales. Emphasis is placed on adaptations, evolution, and ecological relationships within marine ecosystems. This class incorporates multiple topics sections. Class activities focus on scientific observation, biodiversity, and human impacts on ocean systems. There will be a class project that incorporates creative methods to explain scientific concepts.
