Catalog description

This course explores multiple approaches to creating photographic tableaux in the studio and on location. Students will be introduced to a multitude of ways of manufacturing photographic subject matter and discover how these images contribute to contemporary photographic art practice. Students will construct their images, working within a process that starts with previsualization and moves through to planning and execution. The directorial mode will be used to intentionally structure staged, fictive images. Fabrication methods, studio techniques, and material exploration will be introduced. Digital compositing, analog processes, object construction, artificial lighting, and photographing on location, are all supported as working methods
