Catalog description

We will study the transformation of a literary text into multiple artistic forms (e.g. theater, dance, film) and media formats (e.g. audio, video, graphic, digital) across changing historical and cultural contexts. Building on our reading and analysis of the "original," and the social conditions of its production, we will investigate how, why, and to what effect the text has changed through its various adaptations. We will also consider the potential transformation of literary texts and/or student work into various forms and new media (e.g. online video, podcasts, blogs, virtual reality).
