Catalog description

Students will explore different approaches to illustration through hands-on projects focused on a wide range of materials and techniques. Coursework will include watercolor and gouache painting, ink applications, collage, and three-dimensional illustrations, allowing students to experiment with textures, surfaces, and mixed media. Contemporary and historical practices in illustration will be presented and discussed to provide a broader context for their work. Through this exploration, students will develop a deeper understanding of how to connect visual problem-solving, technical execution, and conceptual thinking. The skills gained in this course will better prepare students by fostering adaptability, creativity, and technical proficiency in diverse media.
