This course explores monsters, mayhem, and cultural disruption to examine how they challenge our sense of what is natural, normal, and secure. We'll consider why societies construct monsters as symbols of fear and difference, and why stories of disorder and destruction continue to fascinate across time and culture. From ancient myths to modern media, we'll investigate how the monstrous and the chaotic expose the cracks in our world and push us to rethink our values, identities, and creative practices.
