Catalog description
This studio-based course provides intermediate to advanced-level training in commercial dance, drawing from Hip Hop and street dance vocabularies, as well as street jazz, jazz funk, dancehall, Afro dance forms, and other styles relevant in the commercial industry. Students learn set choreography in each class, building technical precision, body awareness, and control across varied vocabularies. Emphasis is placed on performance quality, musicality, rhythmic phrasing, and storytelling through movement. The course develops movement clarity, dynamic range, and versatility, while also introducing concepts such as music theory and performance intention that support artistry in commercial work. Students strengthen their expressive and technical proficiency while preparing for professional opportunities in the commercial dance industry.
