Catalog description

This course examines world cinema up until World War II. Emphasis is placed on major directors, national movements, and aesthetic trends that contributed to the development of narrative cinema. Screenings will be discussed for their aesthetic, historical, technological and ideological significance. Assignments will consist of quizzes, exams, forum posts, and brief writings.
