Catalog description

This course introduces students to the techniques, technologies, and workflows of large format, professional multi-track mixing, through lecture-demonstrations, hands-on recording and mixing projects and activities, critical listening sessions, and peer- and self-critiques. Drawing from individual and team recording projects, as well as pre-existing multi-track sessions, students gain experience with mix session management, plug-in and hardware signal processing chains, advanced signal routing and grouping, and deliverable preparation and formatting. Students also develop and exercise critical listening, evaluation, and communication skills about mixing intentions, methods/strategies, and results.
