Studio Tracking

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the techniques, technologies, and workflows of large format, professional multi-track recording sessions. Classes focus on the fundamentals of multi-track recording, through lecture-demonstrations, in-class group tracking sessions, and lab assignments completed outside class time. Topics covered include microphone selection, handling, and placement; session and console architecture, setup, and documentation; signal flow and patching; headphone cue systems; and studio etiquette and professionalism.
