The maternal-child health nursing course is intentionally structured to enhance a nurse’s role as an entry-level healthcare provider. Its primary focus is on the practical aspects of NURS 303 Women’s and Infants’ Health course, encompassing observation, clinical practice, and simulation components. This comprehensive course delves into the biological, psychological, and sociological aspects that pertain to the fundamental needs of families, particularly in the context of childbirth and neonatal care. The clinical and simulation experiences explore various critical subjects, such as the physiological changes associated with pregnancy, fetal development, and the nursing care required during labor and delivery. Students are exposed to clinical experiences that stress the importance of safe, compassionate, and proficient nursing practices, along with the development of essential communication skills and professionalism, all within a range of maternal-child healthcare settings.
