Medical Surgical Nursing II Lab

Catalog description

This course covers the clinical and observation portion in the medical-surgical and intensive care clinical environment. Direct patient care and working with registered nurses and other medical disciplines in a healthcare facility are the main components of the course. Simulation labs are also covered in this course, covering critical care/medical-surgical scenarios to prepare nursing students for patient care. Simulations are high and middle-fidelity experiences and labs with mannequins or real actors/actresses. Observations are made in healthcare facilities in the emergency room, operating room, catheterization laboratory, wound care team, respiratory therapy, intensive care unit, radiology, clinics, and medical-surgical critical care floors. Clinical, lab, and observational experiences provide the student with an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe care to patients and selected groups in a variety of settings. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Associate or Bachelor Level Nursing program; NURS 301 , NURS 301L . Corequisite(s): NURS 302 .
