Catalog description

Analysis of American involvement in the Vietnam War from 1954 to 1975. The armed conflict in Vietnam reveals political, diplomatic, military, social, and economic factors that shaped the United States in the Cold War. This course considers the deployment of U.S. armed forces to Southeast Asia in addition to the mobilization of antiwar demonstrations on the home front. Significant attention will be given to the rise of American power, the making of a military quagmire, and the fall of South Vietnam.
