Catalog description

A study of the methods and instrumental techniques commonly used in the analysis of chemical evidence such as sampling, instrumentation, drugs and toxicology, fires and explosives, firearms, textiles, paints, and coatings. The laboratory component will include the application of the major techniques and instruments used in the analysis of chemical forensic evidence, including microscopy, thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatography, UV-visible spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Prerequisite(s): C or better in CHEM 312 and CHEM 312L , and in CHEM 335 . 1 hour
