Catalog description

This course is designed to not only encourage pre-service teachers to explore aspects of teaching mathematics, but also to enhance pre-service teachers’ content knowledge of “school” mathematics. Considerable emphasis is placed on exploring multiple ways to make mathematics comprehensible to all of their future students. In addition, issues pertaining to lesson planning and implementation, assessment, integration of appropriate models, mathematics connections, and the use of technology are explored. Includes field experience of 15 hours. This course is part of a program that leads to Missouri certification. Students who do not live in Missouri will be required to sign an attestation that they will complete their field experiences and student teaching in Missouri and will work in Missouri upon graduation.
