Catalog description
This course is designed to introduce students to critical care specialty areas and technology associated with the care of medical-surgical and intensive care patients. Emphasis is placed on developing skills needed to plan, manage, and provide patient-centered care to critically ill patients using the nursing process. Critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice concepts are applied to multiple nursing scenarios. Communication, legal-ethical concepts, patient education, and pharmacological, nutritional, and sociocultural principles are integrated throughout the course. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Associate or Bachelor Level Nursing program; NURS 301, NURS 301L. Corequisite(s): NURS 302L.
