Catalog description

In this course, students will explore the interrelationship between sports, media, and culture and how such an interrelationship can both reinforce and challenge social values and norms relating to culture and identity. In doing so, students will recognize the increasingly important role media plays in conveying and shaping society through the sports platform. This course emphasizes rhetorical theory, public discourse, and communication strategies within media relations such as sport organizations, the news media, and popular culture media. Prerequisites: none.
