Catalog description
This is the first in a four-course clinical internship sequence. Over these four courses, students must complete 600 total contact hours in a mental health counseling setting (150 hours per 8-week course). Students are responsible for securing an internship site and a qualified clinical supervisor. The supervisor must be a licensed mental health professional or a doctoral intern/postdoctoral fellow supervised by a licensed professional on-site. Counseling Internship 1 requires 150 clinical hours over 8 weeks, partitioned as: Direct Client Contact: 60 hours Indirect Hours: 90 hours (including 6 hours of supervision) The internship experience will serve to guide students in conceptualizing, planning, and implementing culturally responsive interventions.
