Catalog description

Project-based organizations around the globe are defining, borrowing, and collecting best practices in project management and are increasingly assigning the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) to ensure projects, programs, and portfolios are strategically aligned to support the business goals and objectives in effective ways. This course emphasizes the EPMO. Students will learn how projects, programs, and portfolios are different but how each contributes to meeting strategic imperatives. The role of the EPMO, including governance frameworks like Agile, financial techniques, risk assessments, key performance measures, and communication skills are differentiated. Additionally, maturity models for assessing the effectiveness of the EPMO, and use of industry best practices are presented to ensure a means of keeping implementers and decision-makers moving toward consistent, business- or mission-focused goals and objectives.
