Catalog description

Designed for the non-practicing registered nurse to return to the practice of nursing through a review and update of nursing knowledge and skills. Structured to meet the individual needs of the nurse and the community. The focus will be on required skills competencies for medical-surgical nurses. Current nursing and medical community concepts, resources, and opportunities will be emphasized. Consists of 120 contact hours of theory and another 120 contact hours of clinical (including skill series and clinical rotation at a local hospital). Theory includes: patient care principles and systems review; professional issues (changing healthcare industry, legal and ethical issues, etc.); lab experience focused on procedures and techniques (injections, catheterization, etc.); and nursing throughout the life span. Prer., Current Colorado nursing license, CPR certificate, current immunizations (2MMR, rubella), liability insurance, Ppo in past year, tetanus in past ten years.
