Most instructional activity will be conducted online, with some required face-to-face classroom meetings/learning activities scheduled intermittently throughout the term. Additional requirements may include test proctoring with student authentication, a desktop or laptop computer (not a mobile device), a webcam, and/or a microphone. Information and updates regarding online proctored exams can be found here: http://www.collin.edu/academics/ecollin/onlineproctoredexam.html. We recommend you check for updates prior to the start of your course. This class uses the Red Cross "Responding to Emergencies" training course. Students seeking the Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED two-year Red Cross Certificate are required to complete an online virtual training and three skill sessions face-to-face on the McKinney campus. Upon successful completion of the face-to-face skill sessions and written tests (with a grade of 80 or higher), students will receive a two-year Red Cross Certification that satisfies OSHA requirements. The in-person sessions demonstrate hands-on competency in several skills learned during the online portion of the course. These sessions will provide a quick lesson review followed by practice. Finally, students will be tested on the following skills: adult and pediatric CPR, use of an AED, choking, stop-the-bleed training, safe removal of gloves, splinting, and soft tissue injuries. Students can pass KINE 1306 without receiving the certification. This section requires an additional lab fee. |
