Introduction to Theatre

Three lecture. A survey of theatre, introducing basic elements and principles of production, styles and/or historical perspectives of theatre, dramatic literature and criticism. Students will be able to: analyze and discuss dramatic literature and criticism; demonstrate knowledge of the elements of drama, and the process of playwriting; discuss the historical development of the theatre; discuss connections between theatre and political, social, religious, and economic concerns. General Education: Arts and Humanities Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
