Three lecture. Fundamentals of speech communication emphasizing public speaking skills and improved self-confidence. Performance based, improving speaking skills. Students will be able to: develop and demonstrate active listening skills; use research tools to organize information from a variety of sources; use technology to prepare and deliver speeches; deliver a variety of oral/signed presentations; use appropriate language to express ideas; demonstrate poise during public speaking; critique content and delivery of presentations using a variety of formats; participate in group activities; identify and apply fundamentals of communication theory; identify and apply reasoning skills.
