Intermediate Spanish I

Catalog description
Four lecture. Improving basic skills of speaking, comprehension, reading, and writing. Taught in Spanish. Students will be able to: interpret written Spanish from simple, connected texts dealing with a variety of basic and social needs; create statements or questions in writing within the scope of limited language experience; follow the writing process (idea, generating, organizing, drafting, revising, proofreading) in both English and Spanish; initiate, and respond verbally to communicative tasks and social situations; initiate, sustain and close a general conversation utilizing learned grammatical strategies; demonstrate increased comprehension of conversational discourse on a number of topics; recognize non-verbal cultural norms; describe the cultural practices and characteristics of the areas where Spanish is spoken. Prerequisite(s): SPA 102 or placement. General Education: Written and Oral Communication: Communication and Languages Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
