Catalog description

Three lecture. Develops a practical speaking knowledge of common medical terms frequently used in a variety of health care settings. Provides significant cultural information essential to field. Prior knowledge of Spanish useful but not required. Students will be able to: demonstrate knowledge to obtain the client’s medical history; give basic health care instructions; convey the client’s communications to the physician and other members of the health team when necessary; give the necessary directions encountered in a medical situation; demonstrate knowledge of cultural norms, values, beliefs, and regional variations within areas where Spanish is used. Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
