Three lecture. Issues in contemporary political analysis, human values, and political goals; how governments differ and change; relationship between individuals and government; how nation-states influence one another. Students will be able to: describe and explain the nature of politics and political power; describe, explain, and contrast the major political ideologies; describe, explain and compare different political structures and institutional arrangements and how they relate to the functions assigned them; explain the relationship between politics and economics; describe and explain how political systems change.
