Catalog description
Three lecture. Three lab. Algebra-based study of motion, static and dynamic mechanics, waves and sound. Students will be able to: explain the concepts of distance, velocity and acceleration; calculate distance, velocity, and acceleration in one and two dimensions; analyze force interactions; participate in laboratory investigations, utilizing scientific methods and equipment; utilize concepts of conservation of energy and momentum to analyze and solve problems; apply concepts of static equilibrium to problem solving; define wave types and components and describe wave interaction; describe physical interactions in a planetary system; solve problems involving rotational motion. Prerequisite(s): MAT 187 . General Education: Natural Sciences
