Catalog description

Three lecture. Develops listening skills and an understanding of how American geography, history, politics, and economics relate to the development of selected musical styles. Students will be able to: identify and analyze various styles of American music; trace the evolution of musical styles in America, their sources and influences; examine the broad range of cultural and historical influences on the music of America; evaluate the contributions made to American music by a diverse range of ethnic groups and women.
