Three lecture. n/a Cultural development of the arts, literature, and philosophical and religious movements within the United States from the colonial period through the present. Students will be able to: Articulate an awareness of the American arts, religious history, music, literary developments, and the exchange of ideas; Analyze the relationship between socio-economic, religious, scientific, and political events and the creative processes and artifacts that define American culture and civilization; Identify artistic, literary, religious, and musical contributions made by major contributors to the development of American culture and civilization; Explain how the ideas and values of American culture and civilization have become embodied in the works of art, literature, and music that the American people have created over time; Explore inter-relationships between art, literature, music, religion, and philosophy within different historical, regional, and cultural contexts in American history; Analyze the diverse cultural contributions that have shaped the artistic, religious, and intellectual history of the United States; Pre/Corequisite(s): ENG 101 .
