Catalog description

Three lecture. Introduction to the direction and control of housekeeping operations, personnel and facilities management, problem solving techniques, and guest security and safety. Students will be able to: identify staffing needs for housekeeping department; develop an organizational chart for the housekeeping department; analyze supply needs and identify the steps in the procurement process; develop a plan for the administration and distribution of supplies; list the principles of linen room management; analyze guest problem scenarios and synthesize possible solutions; evaluate employee and guest environment in terms of safety; implement interior design techniques for guest satisfaction; create a full circle management plan; identify requirements for MSDS and OSHA; identify daily routines and subroutines for housekeeping; define procedures for opening the house; evaluate housekeeping inventories; determine proper procedures for controlling housekeeping expenses; differentiate physical plant operations; evaluate the various plant operations as the pertain to electrical and HVAC systems; identify safety issues pertaining to water and wastewater management.
