Three lecture. Three lab. Explore the history of life and our planet starting from the beginning of the solar system and ending with the present day by investigating the geologic and fossil records. Students will be able to: apply the principles of scientific inquiry explain geologic time and dating methods describe changes in paleogeography using plate tectonic theory discuss how the fossil succession is related to evolutionary theory distinguish major events and life forms of Earth’s history identify sedimentary rocks and minerals as well as major fossil groups interpret the geologic history of an area by analyzing the lithology, stratigraphy, sedimentary structures, and fossils Prerequisite(s): ENG 098 or higher English course or placement above ENG 098. General Education: Natural Sciences Grading Option: Letter Grade Only
