Catalog description

Two lecture. Two lab. Floor foundations and interior/exterior framing, including various types and methods of building foundations and framing systems. Students will be able to: 1. demonstrate the safe use of a variety of construction trade related hand and power tools and equipment; 2. ddentify all basic instruments and tools used in concrete, foundations and framing construction; 3. demonstrate the use and care of masonry and concrete tools; 4. describe a variety of structural considerations for proper design and installation of a building foundation; 5. describe a variety of foundation types and related materials; 6. describe a variety of structural considerations for proper design and installation of a floor framing platform; 7. demonstrate the use and care of carpentry framing tools and equipment; 8. describe the various framing materials and terminology; 9. demonstrate the ability to frame a floor platform.
