Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology

Catalog description

Three lecture. Three lab. The study of the structure and function of the human body. It is designed for students who want a one semester course in anatomy and physiology and those pursuing certificates in the allied health sciences; students majoring in the sciences or preparing for professional health science careers should enroll in the BIO 201 / BIO 202 sequence. Students will be able to: relate the structural organization of the body; discuss homeostasis and homeostatic control mechanisms and what arises when homeostasis is not maintained; analyze specific chemical concepts as they pertain to the body; and describe structure and function of the: integumentary system and body membrane, skeletal system and joints, muscular system, nervous system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, lymphatic system and immunity, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive system.
