Oil/Acrylic Painting II

Catalog description

One lecture. Five lab. Intermediate course in developing expressive and descriptive skills using oil and/or acrylic paint. Students will be able to: apply basic color theory; demonstrate the importance of “gesture” in painting; use a sketchbook in planning their works and as a reservoir of ideas; demonstrate skill in techniques such as scumbling, glazing, impasto and blending; and evaluate finished work from the standpoint of material use, technique, and composition. Prerequisite(s): ART 160 and ART 190 Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
