Catalog description

One lecture. Five Lab. Studio course. Introduction to issues of design theory, principles and visual literacy. Projects designed to strengthen understanding of creative and critical thinking and demonstrate problem-solving. Students will be able to: demonstrate entry-level conceptual skills through ability to apply design principles to support a concept or idea; demonstrate observation skills through their submission of course projects and participation in discussions; demonstrate the ability to employ entry-level design elements and principles through the completion of course projects; demonstrate an understanding of semiotics.
