Catalog description

One lecture. Five lab. Introduction to drawing. Includes drawing techniques and the use of various materials traditionally used in drawing, perceptual skills, critique practices and critical thinking, analysis of professional art events or artwork in galleries or museums. Students will be able to: 1. explore and apply the elements of drawing and design principles to drawings of still-life, nature, and figure drawings; 2. explore and apply diverse drawing media, techniques and observational skills to various subjects: still life, nature studies, figure drawing; 3. demonstrate the processes of seeing and communicating visual ideas using drawing media; 4. valuate and analyze work of self and others utilizing critical thinking and appropriate terminology through oral and written critique processes; 5. and observe and write critiques of professional art events or gallery exhibitions. Grading Option: May be taken for S/U credit.
