Catalog description

The course examines key issues in the relationship between society and the natural environment. The primary focus is on social structural and cultural factors behind environmental and resource problems. Attention is also given to social consequences of environmental degradation (e.g., social and economic disruption) and to social responses to environmental and resource problems (e.g., change in culture/attitudes about environmental issues, the environmental movement, community mobilization against threats). This course is an experiential learning course that requires 15 hours of fieldwork. Semester(s) Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
