This course examines the development, debates, and animating principles of 20 th and 21 st century American political economy. Through critical reading of the central thinkers and texts of this period, this course seeks answers to the following questions: What is political economy? How does economic theory translate into political policy? What is the proper role of the state and the market in achieving the common good?
