U.S. Government Secrecy

Catalog description

This course examines the scope, significance, and dynamics of US governmental secrecy through time, across all federal branches and throughout American society. The course also considers secrecy practices in commerce and foreign governments and the role played by leaks and the media. Students explore the politics, constitutionality, and legal structure of the practice of governmental secrecy, including why secrets are created and who benefits.
