Introduction to Health Professions

Catalog description

An overview of the U.S. Healthcare system and the social, scientific, and economic issues impacting the delivery of healthcare. The course explores a wide array of healthcare professions, including the roles and educational/training requirements of physicians, nurses, therapists, clinicians, and other allied health professionals. The course is designed to establish a solid foundation related to the expectations of students in the program and as future healthcare professionals. Students learn the importance of scientific and professional communication, as well as the professional characteristics, behaviors, and skills required in healthcare careers.
