This course explores the history of popular culture in Latin America and provides students with insight into the culture, practices, and institutions that create national identities in Latin America. In this course students study popular culture within the frameworks of nationalism, state-building, revolution, and empire and analyze a range of primary and secondary sources from Latin America.
