Exploring Middle Eastern Conflict

Catalog description

This course examines the history of Middle Eastern conflict between the late 19th century and the present. It may consider such topics as nationalism, ethnic nationalism, population exchanges/refugees, ethnic conflict, colonialism, post-colonialism, civil war, war, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. The course may require students to engage a wide-ranging selection of primary and secondary texts from different political perspectives. The course may be repeated for up to six credit hours under different topics. Semester(s) Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
