Practicum in Sport Coaching

Catalog description

A grade of ‘C’ or better in EXSS 301. This experiential course prepares students pursuing the EXSS coaching minor by providing hands-on coaching experience in recreational, amateur, or educational sport settings. Under the supervision of a qualified coach, students apply and expand their knowledge and skills through a minimum of 100 approved contact hours in a real-world coaching environment. Specific placements vary depending on the sport and its seasonal schedule. Students must hold current CPR/AED certification prior to beginning the practicum. This course provides students with practical experience, deepens their understanding of coaching principles, and supports the development of professional competencies in a supervised setting.
