Social Studies for the Young Child: Family and Community Partnerships

Catalog description

This course prepares teacher candidates to build upon the relationships that children develop in their homes, communities, and schools. Teacher candidates prepare to work with families of diverse world cultures, societies, and languages within the school and community and explore social, cultural, and economic issues that shape human behavior and affect the current practices in education. Teacher candidates examine the influence of these factors on student achievement, family relationships and educational practices as they relate to the family. Throughout the course, class work is connected to the field experience.
