Equivalent: LIS 338 Examines the role of games–from casual games to those designed to provoke thought and engagement–in the development of genres, practices, identities, and various gamer cultures. Topics may include how game rules and player choices influence the game experience and the cultures represented by the games, their creators, and players themselves. Students learn about game subcultures and critically analyze games in the global context as intercultural, participatory media. Semester(s) Offered: Offered as needed
