This course follows the shift from modernism to postmodernism and beyond in the art of Europe and the United States since 1940. It explores art’s responses to the rise of mass media and screen culture beginning with Abstract Expressionism, continuing through Pop Art, Conceptual Art, Feminist Art, Postmodernism, and other contemporary movements and styles.
