Catalog description
Police, fire, and emergency medical service professionals are charged with keeping us safe. This course examines public safety from a public management perspective-and, at times, a nonprofit management perspective as well. In all, the course is organized into three parts. First, we will illustrate the structure of government in which public safety professionals operate and the conditions and problems they face. Second, we will examine key management practices such as budgeting, human resources, and performance measurement. Third, we will explore opportunities for future growth and change within public safety.
