Regionalism

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the concepts, institutions, and practices that shape regionalism in contemporary metropolitan areas. Students examine how regional planning and governance structures, such as metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), councils of governments (COGs), and shared-service arrangements, coordinate transportation, land use, housing, and environmental policy across jurisdictional boundaries. The course prepares students to engage in cross-jurisdictional planning and to understand the complex institutional landscape of metropolitan decision-making in the United States, with particular focus on Northeast Ohio.
