This course covers: dielectric waveguides and optical fibers; semiconductor concepts and energy bands; semiconductor junctions; light emitting diodes (LEDs); lasers; photodetectors and photovoltaic devices; optical modulators. The course satisfies the writing across curriculum (WAC) requirement.
