Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing Management

Prerequisite: OSM 311. In this course students will gain an in-depth knowledge of sourcing strategies, purchasing activities, and supplier relationships in supply chain networks. The emphasis is on the coverage of total supply processes that result in purchasing savings. Advanced topics included: types of purchasing; use of electronic communication and online auctions in purchasing; global purchasing; identification of suppliers; supplier selection and evaluation; negotiation and contracts with suppliers; supplier selection and evaluation; negotiation and contracts with suppliers; and supply law and ethics.
